A memo on cooperation in the field of emergency signed between Syria and Russia 

The Ministry of Local Administration and Environment on Monday signed a memorandum on cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Emergency in the field of firefighting and protection from the effects of disasters, accoding to SANA.

The memo aims at exchanging experiences, training and rehabilitation, and at enhancing cooperation in the field of emergency and civil defense.

The Syrian-Russian relations are deep-rooted said Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf, appreciating the great support that Russia has been providing to the Syrian people at international forums and in the humanitarian field.

For his part, Russian Deputy Minister of Emergencies Alexei Sirko affirmed his country’s readiness to train and teach Syrian cadres in Russian institutes and universities concerned with emergency situations, noting the importance of developing sports for firefighters and rescue workers.

Later, the Damascus Fire Brigade received 8 tons of equipment and tools for extinguished fires.
