10-year-old child Jana Abu Fakhr signs her first collection of short stories “I Will Visit the World”
Sweida (ST) – The 10-year-old girl Jana Abu Fakhr signed her first collection of short stories, entitled “I Will Visit the World”, as part of the ceremony hosted by the Culture Palace in Sweida. The ceremony included a choir performance by the “Nabd” band and an open discussion session on Abu Fakhr’s story collection.
The collection, issued by the Syrian General Organization for Books, consists of 64 pages that contain various stories on topics like bullying, encouraging reading, alienation, helping others, love, and other things.
Abu Fakhr noted that all the stories are a figment of her imagination, and that she drew the drawings herself.
She expressed her keenness that the proceeds of the collection go back to the children in the Social Care House in Sweida, pointing out that every child in this world can excel at least in one domain if he/she gets the required care.
For her part, writer and poet Samia Azzam presented a critical reading of the collection of short stories, expressing her admiration for what was written by a little girl in a strong, clear and easy language.
It is to be noted that the 10-year-old Jana Abu Fakhr was honored in late March by the Minister of Education for her distinction and for accomplishing this collection. Last year, She participated in the Arab Reading Challenge initiative and she hopes that she is looking forward to obtaining an advanced position in the Arab Reading Challenge this year after she was recently qualified at the level of Syria.
