The Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Damascus Safdar Ali Khan said in a statement to reporters that “in the light of the decades-old fraternal relations between Syria and Pakistan, it was necessary to provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian brothers affected by the devastating earthquake that struck their country recently”.
He noted that the aid included relief materials, food, infant formula, electric generators and lighting devices.
Ali Khan added “from the first moments of the earthquake, the Pakistani government contributed to assisting Syria by sending 9 planes that successively arrived at Damascus International Airport and that carried tons of relief materials as well as doctors to provide medical services to the affected people”.
In turn, member of the executive office in charge of the trade and industry sector, Dr. Mualla Ibrahim, thanked the Republic of Pakistan for its permanent support for Syria in the times of crisis.
