Syria, Venezuela stress importance of enhancing tourism cooperation

Minister of Tourism Mohamed Rami Martini and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela for Asia and the Middle East Tatiana Moreno discussed ways to enhance tourism exchange between Syria and Venezuela during a workshop held today at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus.

A number of owners of tourism companies from both sides as well as transport, tourism and travel offices participated in the workshop.

Martini stressed the importance of the return of the exchange of tourist delegations between the two friendly countries, the continued promotion of trade and cultural exchange and joint investments, and the development of people-to-people relations. He noted that the coming days will witness more work and coordination between the tourism companies, institutions and hotels in both countries to develop tourism relations.

For her part, the Venezuelan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that the political relations between the two countries have reached very advanced stages, and “we will work to enhance cooperation in all tourism, scientific and cultural fields,” noting the great efforts exerted to resume the air transport line between Caracas and Damascus, as this represents the establishment of a new stage of cooperation and ckntributes toconveying the true and civilized image of Syria to Venezuela.

The Venezuelan Deputy Minister of Transport and Director of Convisa Elena Salasar affirmed the importance of continuous communication and coordination between the two countries to promote tourism at the local, regional and global level, indicating that today’s workshop represents an important opportunity to enhance joint work and increase opportunities for tourism marketing and exchange of delegations.

The demands of the participants centered on the need to enhance the exchange of offers between the tourist offices of the two countries, facilitate the transportation of goods and passengers, intensify flights, facilitate the payment of tickets and transfers in foreign currency, work to encourage and attract tourists and provide tourism services at competitive prices that attract foreign tourists.
