(Old memories , Old Friends )… a documentary exhibition of the personalities, heritage and antiquities of As-Suwayda Syrian , city

More than 100 illustrated documents that bring together personalities who drew the national, cultural and educational history of As-Suwayda governorate during the past century, the traditional folk dress and the ancient antiquities of the governorate, were  included in the “Your old memories, your old friends” exhibition, which opened today at the headquarters of the Martyr Kamal Nasr Western Association of the Revolutionary Youth Union.

The exhibition, which continues until the fifth of this month, includes many old and rare photos that document aspects of the history of the province of As-Suwayda, its historical events, its men, and its national, scientific and literary figures.

In a statement to SANA News Agency reporter, Hamad Kiwan, a member of the leadership of the Revolutionary Youth Union branch in As-Suwayda, head of the Educational Activities Office, pointed out to the importance of the exhibition to consolidate cultural and historical values among the young generation, and to highlight the distinctive heritage of As-Suwayda governorate.

As for the Secretary of the Martyr Kamal Nasr Western Association of the Revolutionary Youth Union in As-Suwayda city, Karim Hamza, indicated in a similar statement that the aim of the exhibition is to shed light on our history and remind the current generations of our heritage, its importance, the authentic customs and traditions, and recall the values upon which our ancestors were raised.

While, the young woman, Sabreen Morshed, drew attention to her contribution in collecting various pictures of national personalities such as Sultan Pasha al-Atrash and the men of the Great Syrian Revolution, in addition to the customs and traditions related to coffee hospitality, making Arabic bread and transporting water with the so-called “menshal”, in an attempt to highlight the beautiful past.

Also ,the young Madeline Azzam presented pictures related to the traditional folk dress to restore the spirit of old things, which reflects adherence to the country and its local heritage.

Lastly,the opening of the exhibition included the presentation of a piece of music and honoring the youth unit in the village of Taara, in recognition of its efforts and activities.
