Minister of Education underlines necessity of reforming Arab educational systems and securing advanced institutions for youth care

With the participation of Syria, the thirteenth conference of Arab Ministers of Education, held in the Kingdom of Morocco, under the title “The Future of Education in the Arab World in the Era of Digital Transformation,” continued its work for the third day.

In the session of the Arab Ministers of Education held on Wednesday, Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, stated that the real investment of the Arab countries in the future is in the minds of their creative youth and their diverse skills in order to be able to survive and compete in the era of digital transformation.

Tabbaa said: “The digital transformation in the education sector has some benefits in tracking students’ progress faster and more accurately, rationalizing time and cost, and improving communication between the teacher and parents and between students and their peers. It has a more important benefit at the level of the Arab world, which is the empowerment of the Arabic language to be a literary and scientific language for dialogue between Arab youth, which has become through social media a hostage to strange terms that will result in Arab youth losing their belonging and identity.”

Minister Tabbaa expressed his regret that global digital research centers are full of young Arab scientists and with creative and fruitful contributions to the development of the future of the digital world, while our countries lack open institutions for young Arab scientists to develop new Arab investment concepts in the digital world that support their countries’ economies, develop their societies and improve the lives of their families.

Tabbaa said: I hope that we realize the importance of our cooperation and invest our human resources in the best way so that we can enter the era of digital transformation from its widest gates.

Tabbaa called for working quickly on reforming Arab educational systems and heading towards transformation in education in all its aspects, securing advanced Arab institutions to take care of youth and bridging the large gap between school and the labor market. He also called for focusing on twenty-first century skills in education and life to ensure the stability of our human resources in their countries and preserve this important wealth.

On the sidelines of the conference Dr. Tabbaa met with a number of his Arab counterparts, where they discussed the possibilities of joint educational cooperation.

Minister Tabbaa met with the Egyptian Minister of Education Dr. Reda El-Sayed Hegazy, the Moroccan Minister Chakib Benmoussa, the Palestinian Dr. Marwan Awartani, and the Comoros Minister Dr. Taqi Al-Din Youssef.

He also met with the Somali Minister of Education, Farah Sheikh Abdul Qadir, the Djiboutian Minister Mustafa Muhammad Mahmoud, the Qatari Minister Dr. Buthaina bint Ali Al-Jabr Al-Nuaimi, the Kuwaiti Minister Dr. Hamad Abdul-Wahhab Hamad Al-Adwani, and the Libyan Minister Dr. Musa Muhammad Al-Maqrif.

The Arab ministers expressed their happiness at Syria’s return to its usual activity in the associations and organizations of the League of Arab States, looking forward to joint cooperation with it.

In turn, Minister Tabbaa highlighted  the importance of joint Arab educational work in developing the skills of this generation, inviting them to visit Damascus.

At the end of the conference, the Secretary-General of the organization, the Moroccan Minister of Education and the representative of the League of Arab States for Education handed Minister Tabaa the organization’s shield, in appreciation of the efforts made by the ministry in the field of digital transformation.
