Relief needs of Al-Hasakah Governorate highlighted

The Governor of Al-Hasakah, Dr. Louay Sayyouh, discussed with the Regional Manager of the World Food Program in Syria, Laila Maliuh, the relief and humanitarian needs of the Governorates.

During the meeting held in the governorate building, Sayyouh pointed out the importance of the projects implemented by the program in Al-Hasakah governorate, in cooperation with the concerned authorities, calling for the need to increase the support provided to the governorate, and to take into account its difficult living conditions, as a result of the presence of the American and Turkish occupations and the terrorist organizations associated with them.

Governor Sayyouh called for reconsideration of the relief allocations for the province and indicated the need to increase them in order to ease the burdens on citizens in the light of the high cost of living resulting from the unjust economic blockade imposed on Syria. Sayyouh pointed out the importance of the new distribution system for food baskets that the program is studying.

The Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Ali Khallouf, demanded the necessity of implementing a number of projects in the agricultural sector, which contribute to supporting breeders and farmers, such as a project for producing early vegetables through tunnels, a project for distributing laying hens with hatchers, a project for food processing units for local products, and a project for distributing fodder materials and providing veterinary care for buffalo herds.

During the meeting, several issues were discussed, including the need to support livelihood projects, especially in the southern countryside, as well as the need to resort to the voucher system in distributing food rations, in order to increase the number of beneficiaries from the pregnant and lactating women project in the city of Hasakah and its countryside. The need to support the bakeries sector with electric generators was further discussed in addition to the need for quantities of flour to the province.
