Arab Writers Union announces the start of participation in the Palestine International Prize for Literature competition
Damascus, (ST) – The Arab Writers Union announced the opening of participation in the Palestine International Prize for Literature competition, in cooperation with writers’ unions and cultural and literary unions in some Islamic countries and other countries.
The award, which was launched in 2019, honors creative writers and publishers who defended the oppressed Arab Palestinian people with their writings and creations around the world.
The union said in a statement on Tuesday that the committee determined the Palestine International Prize for Literature in its second session for entries exclusively for works written in the years 2021, 2022 and 2023. “The works which talk about the resistance and liberation of Palestine in general, and Al-Quds (Jerusalem) in particular from the abhorrent Israeli occupation, as well as works related to exposing Zionist crime against our Palestinian people”, the statement added.
The union indicated that the award includes the following literary genres: stories, children’s poems, short stories, novels, memoirs, poetry and theater. It pointed out that the value of the prize amounts to $60,000 in previous literary genres.
The Union calls on all creative writers and publishers around the world to submit their literary works to the Central Secretariat of the Palestine International Prize for Literature until the end of March 2024, where participation can be made by sending texts or photocopying the book in: English, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Malay, and Urdu are included in the PDF file on the Palestine International Prize website.
The Union stated that all works received by the jury from different countries will be reviewed, and the Palestine International Prize for Literature secretariat will award a selected work from each group after reviewing and agreeing on it.
