A distinguished Syrian presence at the Arab Charity Bazaar in Tokyo

The Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Tokyo participated in the Arab Charity Bazaar, which was held by the Association of Wives of Ambassadors and Heads of Arab Missions in Japan yesterday, along with sixteen Arab diplomatic missions.

The Syrian pavilion witnessed a remarkable turnout from the Japanese bazaar visitors and the resident Arab and foreign communities, who expressed their happiness with the Syrian participation, and with getting acquainted with the various Syrian products and foods.

A number of Japanese and foreigners recalled their visits to Syria, which left a great impression on them in terms of kindness, generosity of its people, and its historical and cultural richness, expressing their desire to visit it again. 

Chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Japan, Muhammad Najib Elji, stressed importance of participating in the bazaar, as it provides an opportunity to acquaint the Japanese people and foreigners residing in Japan with the Syrian civilization and culture. 

The Chargé d’Affaires stated that Princess Takamado, the wife of the Japanese Foreign Minister and the Governor of Yokohama Province visited the Syrian pavilion and expressed their admiration for the handicraft products and the distinctive Syrian food. 

For her part, Amanda Al-Sayed, the wife of the Chargé d’Affairs, indicated that the Association of Ambassadors’ Wives and Heads of Diplomatic Missions decided to allocate the proceeds of the bazaar to charities in the participating countries, and that the Syrian wing’s share of the bazaar’s revenues will be transferred to Syrian charities concerned with the earthquake victims.
