Syria holds talks with UAE, Iran on cooperation in the field of Transportation

Minister of Transport Zuhair Khuzaym and the Emirati Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al-Mazrouei on Saturday discussed ways to support and strengthen cooperation relations in various transport sectors in a way that serves the interests of the brotherly peoples of the two countries.

The discussions were held on the sidelines of the Development Road Conference which kicked off today in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Khuzayem thanked the United Arab Emirates for supporting Syria and for providing humanitarian aid to alleviate the repercussions of the earthquake disaster that hit Syria last February.

For his part, Al-Mazrouei affirmed the importance of consolidating cooperation between the two countries in the field of transportation, expressing his happiness over Syria’s participation in the Development Road Conference in Baghdad with the aim of boosting joint Arab action.

Khuzayem also held talks with Shahriar Efendizadeh, the Iranian Deputy Minister of Transport and Urban Development. Talks dealt with ways of developing the bilateral relations between the two countries in the domain of land, sea, air and railway transport.

Talks also dealt with activating the agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between the two countries, and with the projects agreed on by the joint Syrian-Iranian committee, including the tripartite railway connection for transporting passengers and goods between Syria, Iraq and Iran.
