European MPs: Resuming Syria’s participation in Arab League meetings is in the interest of the region
Madrid-Prague (ST): The Spanish representative in the European Parliament Manu Pineda has affirmed that the resumption of Syria’s participation in the meetings of the Arab League Council represents an important matter that is in the interest of the region and the Arab world as a whole.
The Spanish MP said in an interview with SANA correspondent in Madrid: “Attempts to exclude Syria from international forums were an illegal act, and they served the interests and ambitions of the United States only,” adding: “What Syria needs now are relations based on mutual respect and ending the occupation of its lands and stopping the looting and theft of its natural resources so that the Syrian people can build a stable and lasting peace away from all external and foreign interference.”
Pineda expressed his absolute rejection and condemnation of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, pointing out that “these measures and penalties from which the Syrian people suffer are a reflection of the ideology of the American administrations in punishing free peoples who oppose the US policies and plans, and this is what we have seen, as Western sanctions have obstructed the humanitarian and relief aid to reach the areas affected by the earthquake that hit Syria last February”.
For his part, former member of the Czech Parliament, lawyer Yergy Vivadil, affirmed in an article published today on the (Your Case) website that the participation of President Bashar Al-Assad in the Jeddah summit and the resumption of Syria’s participation in the meetings of the Arab League represent a new defeat for US policies in the Middle East region, stressing that Syria will continue to play an important role in this region.
