Syria takes part in the 1st Arab International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education in Tunisia

DAMASCUS, May.23, (ST)- Syria is taking part in the online activities of the first Arab International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education, which is being held between May 23 and 24 in the Tunisian capital, Tunis.

The conference is being held upon invitation of the League of Arab States Organization for Education, Culture and Science “ALECSO” in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO”, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia “ESCWA”, Google and the International Center for Higher Education Innovation.

It deals with new topics related to the reality and prospects of employing artificial intelligence and digital transformation in education, cooperation between man, machine and artificial intelligence, to achieve the fourth goal of sustainable development goals, metaverse, education and the efforts of international organizations and major institutions.

The Minister of Education, who chairs the National Commission for UNESCO, Darem Tabaa, expressed his hope that Syria’s first participation in the Arab league’s meetings would be the beginning of joint Arab action in the various developmental fields that serve our nation, especially in the fields of education. Which is the gateway and the way to create a better future.

“ In the next 10 years, it is expected that artificial intelligence and robotics technologies, educational institutions will be able to do amazing things in the field of education, such as reading children’s facial expressions to know their emotions towards the events around them and possibly reading their brains to analyze how their learning progresses and adapt. with her,” the minister added.

He indicated that the Syrian government began a transformation in education as schools became part of the surrounding communities interacting with and influencing and being affected by them, and creating technologies and initiatives that enable individual to continue living under the most difficult circumstances, so the creativity and advanced ideas of this generation began to appear.

Tabaa pointed out that the ministry, in cooperation with the Excellence and Creativity Authority, prepared joint programs to spread the culture of excellence and creativity among the generation, and was able, in cooperation with them and with special attention from the First Lady Asma al-Assad, within her community and development program, to introduce robots in education to develop the competencies of creative and distinguished people, to reach with them common human solutions.
