Tehran, (ST) – The Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) on Tuesday re-elected Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf as its Speaker, after he obtained the majority of votes in the fourth session of the council’s elections.
Within the public session of the Assembly, elections were held for the President of the Assembly, and the Presidency announced the nomination of Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf, Ilyas Nadran and Feridun Abbasi Dawani for the position.
Qalibaf was appointed Speaker of Parliament after obtaining 210 votes, while Nadran and Dawani got 47 and 7 votes, respectively, in the elections.
During the session, Abdel Reda Masri was elected as the first vice-chairman of the council.
It is noteworthy that Qalibaf was elected speaker of the Iranian Shura Council for the first time after winning the parliamentary elections in 2020, and he was re-elected today for the fourth time.
