Hasakah Governor, Head of ICRC delegation in Syria discuss means of supporting drinking water sector

The Governor of Hasakah Louay Sayoh and Head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Syria Christophe Martin on Sunday discussed the situation of drinking water in the governorate in the light of the continued stoppage of water pumping from the Allouk station, and the need for continued cooperation to secure water for citizens.

Sayoh explained that the governorate continues to cooperate with the office of International Committee of the Red Cross to increase projects that would alleviate the suffering of the people resulting from the unjust siege imposed on Syria. He expressed the governorate’s readiness to provide everything necessary to facilitate procedures for the committee’s team to carry out its tasks as required.

For his part, Director of Hasakah Water establishment Mahmoud Al Okla noted the importance of cooperation with the international organizations during the current period, according to the governorate’s need for drinking water and all sterilization requirements. He called for increasing the number of water tanks spread in the neighborhood, increasing the amount of water that is delivered to the governorate and providing fuel for desalination plants.

The Director of Hasakah Education Ilham Surkhan called for securing drinking water for pupils and students during the period of the exams for the basic and secondary education stages, especially in the light of the lack of drinking water due to the continued water cuts and the stopping of pumping from the Alouk station.
