Jeddah summit: The summit of exception and the participation of Syria is the most prominent event

Jeddah (ST): Saudi newspapers today paid great attention to the Arab Summit in its thirty-second session, which was held today in the Saudi city of Jeddah, in the presence of about 15 leaders, presidents, kings and princes of Arab countries.

Okaz newspaper said in today’s article: “All expectations indicate that the Jeddah summit will be one of the most successful Arab summits, as it is characterized by the presence of real political will that can be built upon to resolve crises in Arab countries.

The newspaper added: “What is particularly striking is the participation of Syria, represented by President Bashar al-Assad, in the summit’s work, following its return to its natural position in the Arab heartland, where it is expected to occupy a large part of the attention and decisions of the summit.”

In another article titled (Jeddah, the compass of the Arabs and the  ummit of exception ), Okaz newspaper considered that the exception of this summit lies in the return of Syria to its Arab surroundings, and the end of a separation that has remained for more than 12 years.

The newspaper believed that the recent events that afflicted (the land of the Levant and its people) after the earthquake of last February necessitated a reconsideration, the amputation of the estrangement, and the return of Syria to its natural place in the (Arab body).

Al-Jazeera newspaper, in turn, said in its editorial: “The importance of the Jeddah summit lies in the fact that it is held in light of the developments in the events taking place in the region and the world, and in light of the support of the Kingdom’s leadership for efforts aimed at achieving peace, security, stability and prosperity in the region, including the agreement signed by the Kingdom with the Islamic Republic Iran to resume relations between the two countries under the auspices of China, and the existing efforts and initiatives to find a comprehensive political solution to the crises in Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

For its part, Al-Bilad newspaper pointed out in an article entitled (Jeddah Summit: Great Aspirations for a New Era of Arab Peace and Prosperity) that the summit is taking place amid great hopes and aspirations for a new era of peace, stability and prosperity for all Arab countries and peoples in light of the exceptional circumstances that the region and the world are going through. Regional and international crises and conflicts necessitate that Arab countries find mechanisms to face common challenges, enhance regional security and stability, and achieve prosperity for their countries and peoples.

The newspaper considered that Saudi Arabia is keen to play a pivotal role in supporting efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria that ends all its repercussions, preserves its unity, security and stability, and returns it to its Arab surroundings.

It pointed out that it is based on the Kingdom’s belief that the political solution is the only solution to the crisis in Syria, and based on the brotherhood ties that unite the peoples of the Kingdom and the Syrian Arab Republic, and out of keenness to contribute to the development of joint Arab action, and to enhance security and stability in the region.

For its part, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper published an article entitled (Jeddah Summit, the imprint of hope and renewal), in which it said: “What makes the Jeddah summit a pivotal event is that it comes after a decade of unrest caused by the waves of the (fraudulent Arab Spring) on the one hand, then the “Covid-19” pandemic on the other hand, and then the Ukrainian war.
