Jeddah (ST): President Bashar al-Assad delivered Syria’s speech at the Arab League Council meeting. President Assad said “Where does one begin his speech when dangers are no longer imminent, but realized? He starts with hope that motivates achievement and action.
His Excellency added: “ We have to search for the major headlines that threaten our future and deal with our crises so that we do not drown and drown future generations in addressing the results, not the causes.
President Assad stressed that “there are too many headlines for which there is no room for words and summits are not enough. They do not begin with the crimes of the Zionist entity that are rejected by the Arabs ,against the resisting Palestinian people, nor do they end with the Ottoman threat. They do not also separate from the challenge of development as a top priority for our developing societies. Here comes the role of the Arab League to discuss various issues and address them, provided that its work system is developed.
President Assad went on to say: Regarding the issues that concern us daily, we cannot treat diseases by treating symptoms. All of these issues belong to larger blocs that were not addressed in previous stages. It is necessary to address the cracks that have arisen during the past decade, and the most important point is to leave the internal issues to their people to manage their affairs, and we only have to prevent outside interference in our affairs.
President al-Assad expressed hope that the summit marks the beginning of a new phase of Arab action for solidarity among us to achieve peace in our region, development and prosperity instead of war and destruction.
Concluding his speech, President al-Assad extended deep thanks to the heads of delegations who welcomed Syria’s presence at the summit and Syria’s return to the Arab League. He also thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince for the great role played by Saudi Arabia and its intensive efforts to promote reconciliation in our region and for the success of this summit.
