Arab foreign ministers: Jeddah summit will have positive impacts on the situation in the Arab countries  

After the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Arab summit in Jeddah, a number of Arab foreign ministers affirmed that the decisions that will result from the summit will have positive impacts on the situation in the Arab countries, stressing that the summit is required to set the first lines to start confronting the challenges facing the Arab nation.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Muhammad Hussein said in a statement to reporters: “There are great challenges facing the Arab countries, including the Palestinian issue and the situation in Sudan and Yemen. There are different frameworks for dealing with these challenges and problems and managing all these crises. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has proposed an initiative for work with other countries to reach an immediate ceasefire in Sudan.

Hussein affirmed that Syria’s presence in these preparatory meetings and in the summit scheduled on Friday is very important in marking a new phase, noting that his country has always been among those calling for Syria’s return to its seat in the League of Arab States, and today Syria has resumed its presence with great Arab support and consensus.

Hussein pointed out that Syria and Iraq have strong diplomatic relations that did not severe during the previous period, and more cooperation will take place within the framework of the League of Arab States and other frameworks to reach common positions that support security and stability in Syria.

For his part, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi praised the preparations made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which reflected positively on the course of the preparatory ministerial meeting.

With regard to the situation in Syria, Al-Safadi said: The meetings in Jeddah and Amman and the efforts of all Arab countries played pivotal role in reaching a real solution that would address all the consequences of the crisis in Syria and end the suffering of the Syrian people. The lifting of economic sanctions on Syria requires our cooperation to take practical steps that put us on the path to a solution.

For his part, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki affirmed that the presence of the Syrian delegation in the Arab League meetings strengthens the Palestinian position, expressing his hope for the success of these meetings and the achievement of the reliable goal.
