President of the Asian Football Confederation: “We will provide all support to upgrade the Syrian football sport”

Damascus (ST) – President of the Asian Football Confederation(AFC), Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al- Khalifa, affirmed that the level of the Syrian football in continental and international competitions has witnessed notable development.

He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Syrian Federation in terms of sponsoring the national teams, caring for talents, upgrading the training and administrative cadres, and in continuous keenness to prepare the fertile ground for better sports competitions.

Regarding the participation of the Syrian national team in the upcoming Asian Cup in Qatar early next year, Al-Khalifa considered that the Syrian national team is able to leave a distinguished mark in the tournament thanks to its professional players who have played in the Arab and Asian stadiums. He stressed the importance of intensive preparation for participating in the tournament, which represents a great continental entitlement that includes the elite teams of the Asian continent.

It is noteworthy that the AFC’s president started his visit to Syria on Monday in order to be briefed on the situation of the Syrian stadiums and to support the lifting of the ban on them and to meet with senior Syrian sports officials to discuss everything that is good for the Syrian football.
