Syria, China discuss enhancing Cooperation in the field of communications

The Minister of Communication and Technology Eng. Iyad Al Khatib discussed with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Damascus Shi Hongwei, ways to enhance cooperation between Syria and China, in the field of communications and information technology.

During the meeting, held today in the Ministry’s building, minister Al Khatib referred to the depth of the historical relationship between the two countries, indicating that Syria is witnessing a stage of reconstruction in various fields, including the technological sector.

Minister Al Khatib praised the support provided by China to face the repercussions of the earthquake, in addition to rehabilitating a number of communications centers that were destroyed by the terrorists to service in various governorates. He explained that for the grant related to the rehabilitation of communication centers provided to the Syrian Telecom Company, the first phase of which will be supplied before the end of this year.

For his part, the Chinese ambassador stressed the importance of increasing cooperation between Syria and China, in the interest of the two friendly peoples, and in a manner that helps in the reconstruction of Syria, noting that the roots of friendship between the two countries extend throughout history.
