A Syrian delegation, led by Al-Mikdad, arrives in Saudi Arabia to participate in the preparatory meetings of the Arab Summit

On May 15th, an official Syrian delegation arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the preparatory meetings of the Arab Summit, which is scheduled to be held on May 19.

The Syrian delegation comprises Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad, Minister of Information Boutros Al-Hallaq, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Sousan, Director of the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jamal Najib.

In a statement to reporters at the airport, Al-Mikdad said: “the title of this summit is joint Arab action, and we look forward to strengthening this action in future.”

He said: “We express our happiness for our presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and we hope that this summit will be a success. We are here to work with our Arab brothers to discuss means of confronting the challenges that are facing all of us”.

He added: “This is a new opportunity to tell our Arab brothers that we do not look at the past, rather, we look at the future. There are many challenges that we must discuss and mobilize our Arab actions to confront, including the issue of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the issue of climate change.”

He expressed his optimism about this summit, which is for all the Arabs, and for facing the common challenges, adding: “We are ready to work together to find a unified view to deal with our present and future.”
