Pope Francis receives credentials of the Syrian ambassador, says “we pray for peace and stability in Syria”

Pope Francis of the Vatican, affirmed that his prayers and thoughts are with the Syrian people who have been suffering from the devastating earthquake that struck Syria recently and from the crisis they have gone through over the past years.

The pope made the remarks during the ceremony of accepting the credentials of Dr. Louay Fallouh as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Vatican.

Dr. Fallouh conveyed the greetings of President Al-Assad to Pope Francis, pointing out that President Al-Assad highly appreciates the Pope’s role at the spiritual and humanitarian levels and in the service of humanity.

The Pope also asked Fallouh to convey his greetings to President Al-Assad.

 He affirmed that he always thinks about the Syrian people’s suffering and prays for peace in Syria.

Fallouh stressed the great position that the Vatican enjoys among the Syrian people.

 The Pope delivered a speech while accepting the credentials of the ambassadors of Syria, Gambia, Iceland, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan, in which he touched on the difficulties facing the peoples of the world as a result of climate change, poverty, economic crises and wars.
