On the anniversary of the Nakba: The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs calls for international protection for the Palestinians

On May 14th, the Higher Presidential Committee for the Follow-up of Church Affairs in Palestine called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and lift the historical injustice that befell the Palestinian people 75 years ago

The Committee asked that the policy of double standards be stopped  international protection for the Palestinians be provided , and  Israeli war criminals be prosecuted

A member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Ramzi Khoury, said on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Nakba: The Israeli occupation has continued for 75 years its brutal policies against the Palestinian people, their land and their sanctities, including crimes of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem in order to Judaize it.”

Khoury warned of the consequences of the occupation forces and settlers continuing their killings and arrests, their settlement plans in the Palestinian territories, and their attacks on Islamic and Christian sanctities

Khoury said that the alarm warns of a real threat to the Palestinian Christian existence, which requires serious and rapid action at all levels to stabilize this presence and strengthen its steadfastness.

Khoury stressed that the Palestinian people adhere to their right to self-determination on their land, return, freedom and independence, pointing out that the United Nations General Assembly constantly stresses the necessity of implementing Resolution 194, which is one of the clearest international resolutions, as it affirms the right of refugees to return to their homes and be compensated.

Khoury added: The Palestinian people, who have been suffering for 75 years of occupation, are looking forward to serious action from the international community and its concerned institutions, to achieve justice and peace for them and their future generations

In a statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the Nakba, the Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem renewed their call to achieve a just peace in the occupied Palestinian territories, based on international legitimacy and United Nations resolutions.

The Patriarchs and Heads of Churches stressed the need to achieve justice, respect for human rights and international law, and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
