Nasrallah: Inviting President Al-Assad to participate in the forthcoming Arab Summit is of high significance

Hezbollah Secretary General Hasan Nasrallah has stressed that Syria’s return to the Arab league (AL) is a very important step, and inviting President Bashar Al-Assad to take part in the forthcoming Arab summit in Saudi Arabia is of high significance.

He made the remarks during a ceremony marking the seventh martyrdom anniversary of Hezbollah senior commander Mustafa Badreddine.

“Syria has neither changed its stance nor its strategy or axis despite all the developments that took place in the region during the past period,” he said.

“We support every positive development and every political and military victory in Syria,” Nasrallah added, stressing “whenever Syria achieves a political or military victory, we see our martyrs in it”.

He pointed out that all the positive developments in Syria were achieved thanks to the steadfastness of its leadership, army and people. He reiterated that the insistence of the United States on increasing sanctions on Syria and on looting Syria’s oil, gas and wheat comes because of its failure to undermine this country through war.

Hezbollah leader called on the Lebanese government to follow suit of the Arab countries and restore normal ties with Syria.

“Lebanon must restore normal ties with Syria, what are we waiting for? Restoring ties serves Lebanon’s national interest,” he stressed.

Nasrallah went on to say that handling the Syrian refugees file requires dispatching Lebanese ministerial delegation to Damascus and a national stance that doesn’t yield to foreign pressures in this regard.

Regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, Narallah said this aggression aims at assassinating the Palestinian resistance leaders and it is an attempt by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu to uncover the entity’s internal crisis.

He affirmed that the Lebanese resistance party (Hezbollah) “won’t hesitate to take actions starting from its duty to support resistance in Palestine”.
