United Nations (ST): China has warned against external interference in Libya, considering it to be the main cause of the prolonged crisis in the country.
Xinhua news agency quoted Sun Zhiqiang, advisor to the Chinese permanent mission to the United Nations, as saying yesterday at the Security Council meeting on Libya related to the International Criminal Court file: The international community should provide constructive support for political stability, national reconciliation and economic development in Libya, and avoid the complex impact of the imposed solutions from the outside on the situation in Libya.
Sun stressed that China’s position on ICC-related activities has not changed, adding, “We hope the ICC will continue to strictly follow the principle of complementarity as prescribed, fully respect judicial sovereignty and reasonable opinions of relevant countries, as well as avoid politicization and double standards in its work.”
