Syrian youth… Unbeatable will and endless passion

One Syrian receives a prize, another receives a doctorate, success stories here and there about work that has reached the world or at least spread in the media, having reached the achievement with the title that patience and perseverance are the compasses of success in the most difficult circumstances.

War may kill humans, trees and stone, but it cannot take away the creative energies of the survivors of its destruction and horror. Minyar Ezalden Alhaynanii, is one of those young people who defied the conditions of the war and highlighted the importance of their role in society and its developmental Renaissance, considering that they are the basic segment of the renaissance of any society, seeking progress and prosperity.

Minyar Ezalden Alhaynanii was born in al-Sweida governorate in 1993. He graduated from the school of theatrical art in 2018. His first theatrical work was the play “the suicide” by Nikolai Erdman directed by Dr. Samir Osman El-bash. Among his other works are; a children’s play entitled “Who Awakens the Sun”, an improvisation workshop with Mr. Jamal Choucair at the al-Hamra theater, a short film entitled “The Little Man” directed by Tatiana Abu Asali,drama “The commandments of Cactus” directed by Samir Hussein, and the latest work is the play “Chronicle of a theatrical world” written and directed by Mr. Fawaz Hassoun at the Kabbani theater.

Regarding the reality of theatrical life in Syria, Alhaynanii explained, ” Unfortunately, it is a little shy. This is due to many reasons that have influenced the revival of the cultural movement with its various activities… It was one of the questions we raised in the play “Chronicle of a theatrical world” that we recently presented on the Al Kabbani Theater, ” does the theater audience still exist?” We received the answer through the audience that attended the play… Despite what the country was exposed to because of the war and its repercussions, the public is still passionate about it and eager for works that respect their taste and knowledge.

Speaking about the idea of the play “Chronicle of a theatrical world,” Alhaynanii says, “The text is adapted from the film” Death by Hanging” by Nagisa Ohshima. Where there was an attempt to execute a man who committed a rape crime in revenge for himself. The perpetrator does not die but rather loses his memory, and legally it is forbidden to repeat the act of execution if the criminal loses his memory, so we begin to help him to restore his memory by various means to carry out the sentence.

Through our theatrical work, we raise a number of issues such as power, identity, ego, memory, and the goal, which is always to justify any act committed, and in the end, he regains his memory to be the one who kills him.”

“We always strive to experiment and improve this vast artistic space despite the difficulties we face. In fact, we need to combine the efforts of the institution concerned with the theater industry with serious artistic experiments to create theatrical works in which the artistic quality is integrated with the ideas put forward, which is necessary to touch, simulate and express the essence of the reality that the audience lives, so the theater does not address it in an artistic language that does not reflect his pains, dreams, worries and ambitions.” Minyar concluded.
