Under the slogan “The Nakba is a continuous crime and return is a right”, the activities of the 75th anniversary of the Nakba kick off today

Under the slogan “The Nakba is a continuous crime and return is a right”, the 75th anniversary of the Nakba of the Palestinian people begins today in all places and capitals where Palestinians are found to remind the world of the crimes of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement committed against them by Zionist terrorist gangs.

WAFA news agency quoted Ahmed Abu Holi, a member of the PLO’s Executive Committee and head of the Department of Refugee Affairs, as saying in a statement, “The refugee issue is witnessing an important development in the United Nations, following the General Assembly’s decision last November to devote its activities in 2023 to commemorating the 75th anniversary of Nakba, including holding a high-level event in the General Assembly Hall on May 15for the first time in seven and a half decades of the Nakba, in recognition of the Nakba and the tragedy that befell the Palestinian people.

Abu Holi pointed out that the first event is the holding of a high-level symposium at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, in the presence of permanent delegates and representatives of Arab and international diplomatic missions to Egypt, and includes a photo exhibition of the Palestinian refugee journey, and the screening of a documentary film about the Nakba.

Abu Holi explained that the largest multilingual media campaign in all forms at the national and diaspora levels will be launched on the 12th of this month, under the slogan “The Nakba is a continuous crime and return is a right.” The Central Return March and Festival will also be organized in Ramallah on the 15th of this month. In addition to organizing mass events in the Gaza Strip, while the embassies of Palestine and Palestinian communities, coinciding with a high-level event in the United Nations General Assembly Hall, are organizing a series of popular and academic conferences, supportive marches and demonstrations with the participation of international solidarity committees, special sessions at European Union headquarters and a public stand-in front of United Nations headquarters in New York.

Abu Holi called on the international community and all the world’s peoples to stand with the Palestinian people in order to realize the right and justice, to establish stability in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and to enable them to return and establish a fully sovereign and independent State with Jerusalem as its capital.
