Cooperation agreement signed between “Wathiqat Watan” Foundation, Oman’s National Records Archives Authority
The “Wathiqat Watan” (Watan Document) Foundation and the National Records and Archives Authority in Oman signed a cooperation agreement on enhancing cooperation between Syria and Oman.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister of Social Affairs Louai Emad El-Din al-Munajjid.
The agreement provided for exchanging experts in the fields of historical documentation and document management and for cooperation in oral history, in a way that serves the interests of the peoples of the two countries
Head of the Board of Trustees of Wathiqat Watan Bouthaina Shaaban stressed the importance of cooperation with Oman and other Arab countries in the field of documentation and preservation of Syrian handicrafts, documents and history.
Shaaban hoped that cooperation in the field of scientific research and creativity, and for Syria and Oman to be a basic example for Arab cooperation in this field, given the importance of writing and documentation in analyzing and reading what the Arab nation has gone through and repeating positive experiences in the future.
In turn, the head of the Omani Authority, Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Duwayani, explained that this agreement aims at preparing a program for exchanging experiences and for cooperation in the field of documents, archives, oral history, research and various studies.
For his part, minister Al-Munajjid noted the attempts to obliterate heritage, history, customs and values through systematic plans targeting the existence of peoples before targeting countries. He pointed out that the Wathiqar Watan Foundation’s work in preserving heritage and tangible and intangible history in Syria is one of the elements of steadfastness and progress.
