PM, Russian Ambassador Discuss Oil Cooperation

Damascus, (ST)- The Prime Minister, Dr. Wa’ilal -Halaqi, has confirmed that the stability of the political, historical, well-established and deeply-rooted relations between Syria and Russia kept the  region away from the disastrous effects of wars and destruction and restored the balance to political and international relations and reined colonial countries of persistence in hegemony and unilateralism in the international arena .

During a meeting held recently with the Russian ambassador to Damascus, AzamatollahKolmahmadov and Deputy Chairman of the Russian Oil Company ” Soyuz “, IyaGotshetel, Dr. Wa’il al -Halaqi clarified that the developing strategic political relations between the two leaderships in the two countries, represented by Mr. President Bashar al-Assad and President Vladimir Putin should be paralleled by a major breakthrough in terms of expanding horizons of economic and trade cooperation and opening new spaces in the economic and trade cooperation and joint investment for the benefit of the two countries, calling on companies and Russian businessmen to invest in Syria and the establishment of joint development projects.

Talks also dealt with means of expanding areas of cooperation, especially in the field of development and rehabilitation of the fields and gas stations, oil and electric power and the future  role of Soyuz oil company in the exploration of oil and gas in Syria, especially in the Mediterranean.

For his part, Ambassador Kolmahmadov expressed  the confidence of the people and the leadership in Russia that the Syrian people will come out of the current crisis, noting that fortifying the Syrian economy and enhancing the reality of the Syrian pound and reducing the prices of foodstuffs confirm the insistence of the people and the Syrian government to meet all challenges.
