Two UN experts call for holding the Israeli occupation accountable for the assassination of the detainee Khader Adnan

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – Two UN  experts have demanded that the Israeli occupation authorities be held accountable for the assassination of the Palestinian detainee Khader Adnan, who was martyred yesterday in Ramla detention center, after 87 days of his hunger strike.

WAFA News Agency quoted the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, Francesca Albanese, and the Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, Tlalang Mofokeng, as saying in a joint statement on Wednesday: Khader Adnan was detained at least 12 times in the past.

“Adnan spent more than 8 years in prison, and went on hunger strike six times, as he was protesting against Israel’s widespread policy of arbitrary detention of Palestinians, and despite the serious deterioration in his health durung his last hunger strike, the Israeli authorities refused to release him or transfer him to the hospital, and continued to detain him without providing health care”, the statement added..

The two UN experts stated that the fate of the detainee Adnan is tragic evidence of the unjust Israeli detention policy and practices, and of the failure of the international community to hold Israel accountable for its illegal practices against Palestinian detainees, which amount to war crimes.

They stressed that it is necessary, today more than ever, for the international community to hold Israel accountable for its crimes, which have become a daily reality in the lives of Palestinians, wondering how many lives must be lost before the slightest level of justice is achieved in the occupied Palestinian territories.
