Patrushev: Preserving Ukraine as a state is not part of Washington’s plans

Moscow (ST) – Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev indicated that preserving Ukraine’s statehood is not among Washington’s plans.

Patrushev stated in an interview with Izvestia newspaper: “The Americans need Ukraine only for mercilessly exploiting its natural resources without the traditional population. By pursuing this neo-Nazi-style policy, Washington has already turned it into a territory, whose population is fleeing in millions, in an attempt to shelter abroad from social and economic problems, and from pro-Nazi repressions.”

In his words, the country’s population halved as a result of “the 30 years of turbulence, which Washington organized for Ukraine.”

On the other hand, Patrushev said that NATO has deployed additional military units on the territory of eastern European countries and that its countries had modernized their military infrastructure near Russia’s borders and enhanced combat training of their troops.

“In accordance with its plans, the West has been consistently mounting political, military and economic pressure on our country. NATO has deployed additional military units on the territory of eastern European countries, around 60,000 US servicemen have been deployed there”, he added.

In his words, Western special services train terrorists and sabotage groups for committing crimes on the Russian territory, “aiming to instigate fear in the people of Russia and undermine the constitutional basis” of the Russian statehood.
