Palestinian detainee Walid Daqqa in a critical health condition: Detainees’ commission

The Palestinian Detainees and Ex-detainees Commission has warned that the health condition of the Palestinian detainee Waleed Daqqa, who suffers from cancer, has worsened dangerously due to the occupation’s policy of medical negligence at jails.

WAFA News agency said in a statement on Saturday that the health condition of the prisoner is still critical as he needs continuous healthcare after he was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer. The news agency added that Daqqa underwent a surgery on the 12th of this month to remove part of his right lung and now he is suffering from an inflammation in his left lung, as well as from loss of weight and inability to speak.

The prisoner Daqqa is from the town of Baka Al-Gharbiya in the occupied territories of 1948. He has been detained for 38 years and he is one of the Palestinian freedom fighters who contributed to establishing the struggle path of the Palestinian Captive Movement.

On Thursday, the family of Daqqa appealed to international humanitarian and legal institutions to immediately interfere and pressure the occupation authorities as to release the prisoner in the light of his deteriorating health condition.
