Gold Medal for the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Damascus, at the Moscow International Exhibition (Archimedes)
Damascus (ST): The Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University won a gold medal at the Moscow International Exhibition of Inventions and Technological Innovations (Archimedes).
Prof. Dr. Jihad Abu Nassar and researcher Dr. Alaa Al-Dibs won the medal for their invention, which they participated in the exhibition under the title “The Spinal Implant.”
Dr. Abu Nassar explained in a statement to news correspondent that the invention includes the manufacture of local dental implants in Syria with a new and special design, an innovative and applicable step, indicating that these implants are made of zircons, not metals, and have spines that are fixed to the bone, and can be implanted immediately after tooth extraction. It is characterized by saving costs and effort in the manufacturing process.
Dr. Abu Nassar pointed out that participation in the exhibition took place through correspondence and remote communication with those in charge of the exhibition, where the participating inventions were presented to a scientific committee.
Dr. Abu Nassar noted the interest of the Faculty of Dentistry in inventions, encouraging students in this matter, and teaching them the methods of invention by holding many training courses and successive workshops, and how to apply the inventions.
