The Arab Reading Challenge qualifying stages kicked off at the school level in Syria

Damascus (ST) – With the participation of 363.138 male and female students from various governorates, the Arab Reading Challenge qualifying stages kicked off on Wednesday at the school level in the seventh edition for the year 2022-2023, which was launched by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The 2-day qualifiers come after the end of registration for participation in the initiative on the 20th of this month, where students represent 2501 schools, according to the general coordinator of the initiative in Syria, Ali Al-Abbas, who explained that this is the first stage of the qualifiers.

He noted that among the participants there are students with disabilities.

In turn, the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, indicated that the participants were distinguished by their ability to express themselves and their influence on what they read. He noted the significant increase in the number of participants compared to last year.

It is to be noted that the 7-year-old Syrian girl Sham Al Bakour won the title of the champion of the Arab Reading Challenge in its sixth session held in UAE.
