Damascus-(ST)- The Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, represented by the Authority for the Support and Development of Local Production and Exports, launched a program to support the shipment of all the agricultural and industrial products exported from Syria to Russia by sea.
Thaer Fayyad, Director of the authority affirmed that launching the program comes after the approval of the Prime Minister on the recommendation of the Economic Committee and is based on the keenness of the Ministry of Economy to market the surplus of Syrian products and supply the treasury with foreign currency, and in a bid to open new markets with the aim of increasing exports.
The program aims to subsidize the shipment of all Syrian agricultural and industrial products exported to Russia by 30 percent in Syrian pounds of the value of freight charges, which amounted to $6,000 of freight charges per container or one car.
Fayyad indicated that the mechanism will be put in place to implement the program in coordination with the relevant concerned authorities and circulated to all concerned parties.
Preparations will also be made in coordination with the General Organization for International Exhibitions and Fairs and all concerned parties for the Syrian participation in the (Food Moscow) exhibition, which will be held during September of this year.
