Russian students voice solidarity to citizens affected by the earthquake in Syria

Moscow (ST) – A number of Russian students from the Russian Kadrovaya Private School expressed their condolences and sincere feelings of solidarity with the Syrian people, after the catastrophe of the earthquake that occurred in Syria last February.

During their meeting with the Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Bashar al-Jaafari, the students said that they are aware of the difficult conditions that the Syrians are living in as a result of the disaster, so they collected donations in support of the Syrian people. They also provided textbooks and other study supplies to help the Syrian students learn the Russian language.

In turn, Al-Jaafari expressed his gratitude for such an initiative, saying “we sensed this high feeling since the first day of the earthquake disaster, as more 200 volunteers rushed to the embassy and worked with their Syrian colleagues to collect humanitarian aid.”

He said: “Everyone witnessed the consequences of the earthquake, which lasted for minutes, yet resulted in severe damages, but we, as Syrians have been suffering for 12 years from terrorism supported by the US and from the economic sanctions that also Russia suffers from.
