Lavrov affirms Russia’s support for the Palestinian people and its rejection of Israel’s violations

New York (ST): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed the continuity of his country’s support for the Palestinian people and its rejection of Israel’s violations against them.

The Palestinian Wafa Naws Agency quoted Lavrov as saying during his meeting with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki in New York: “We reaffirm Russia’s support for the Palestinian people at all levels, especially their right to self-determination, and our adherence to developing bilateral relations,” stressing the need to implement international resolutions, especially those of the Security Council and the  General Assembly related to the Palestinian cause.

For his part, Al-Maliki thanked his Russian counterpart for presiding over the Security Council session and raising the level of the meeting to the  ministerial level in a way that reflects the importance of what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Al-Quds, and exposes the crimes committed by “Israel”, the occupying power. He underlined the importance of the support and solidarity expressed by members of the Security Council, stressing that this support should be followed by practical steps and procedures to implement the resolutions of international legitimacy and to work to provide protection for the Palestinian people and to end the Israeli occupation.
