The National Earthquake Center: 16 light earthquakes were recorded during the past 24 hours

On April 16th, the National Earthquake Center announced that its stations recorded during the past 24 hours 16 earthquakes measuring less than 4.4 on the Richter scale.

The center stated the recorded tremors ranged between weak to medium, as 7 tremors were recorded in Alexandretta and its coast with a magnitude ranging between 2 and 2.9 degrees, an earthquake southeast of Beirut with a magnitude of 41 km at 14:25 and a magnitude of 3.6 degrees, and an earthquake southeast of Hama at 21:40, with a magnitude of 1.6 degrees, and 7 tremors on the Turkish mainland, with a magnitude ranging between 2.1 and 4.3 degrees.

The intensity of tremors and earthquakes is measured by an index ranging between 1 and 10 degrees, where from 1 to 4 is light, no damage occurs and can only be felt, while from 4 to 6 degrees the earthquake is medium damage, and damage to buildings, and from 7 to 10 is of its maximum degree which could destroy an entire city.
