DAMASCUS- Syria strongly condemned the coward terrorist twin blasts which hit the Lebanese Capital Beirut on Tuesday targeting the Iranian embassy and claiming the lives of scores of martyrs and wounding many people.
At least 23 people were killed and 146 were injured in the two explosions.
In a statement, of which SANA got a copy, the Syrian government stressed that “this coward act indicates the involvement of terrorism advocates and sponsors in the region in disseminating terrorism to destabilize and destroy the entire region in the service of the Zionist entity.
According to the statement, the Syrian government affirms that fighting terrorism is the duty of all peoples and governments of the world and that the involvement of any government or country in terrorist acts is an enough reason for being confronted by the international community.
“The smell of the petro-dollar comes from in the terrorist acts which hit Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, so the Syrian government urges the Lebanese to keep their national unity and join efforts to confront terrorism,” the statement said.
Al-Zou’bi: Saudi Arabia, other Gulf States and Israel Aim to Disseminate Terrorism in the Region
Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi also condemned the terrorist bombings in Beirut, saying that Saudi Arabia, other Gulf States and Israel are behind these terrorist attacks which aim to disseminate terrorism in the region.
Al-Zou’bi told al-Manar TV that the ongoing events in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq come within the framework of a systematic and organized act backed by Arab and Western intelligence circles, foremost of which are the Saudi and Israeli intelligence bodies.
“This is not surprising, as there are clear schemes prepared basically for Syria, and for Iraq and Lebanon and maybe for other countries in the region,” the minister said.
He urged the International community and all countries of the world to apply the terrorism-related international resolutions, to confront terrorism and to pressure certain countries in the region to stop supporting and sending terrorists to other countries.
The minister said that the progress made in the recent negotiations which took place in Geneva between Iran and the 5+1 group led enemies to commit this terrorist act which is a message addressing the countries that chose to adopt negotiation path which is completely refused by Israel, Saudi Arabia and some Gulf States.
He stressed that the Syrian Arab army will continue its national and constitutional mission in confronting terrorism wherever it is on the Syrian lands, referring to the army’s progress in al-Qalamoun area.
He pointed out that Saudi Arabia calls for arming and sending terrorists to some countries in the region, stressing that confronting the armed groups is the collective option of the region’s countries, peoples and governments.
