Within the framework of marking International Al-Quds Day, which falls on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, the Permanent Committee for International Al-Quds Day held a symposium entitled “International Al-Quds Day” at Dar Al-Baath in Damascus.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus Ali Reza Ayiti said in a speech he made that Al-Quds Day is a world message calling for not submitting to the Israeli aggression and barbarism, pointing out that every year the axis of resistance celebrates this day, with the participation of all Freedmen and justice seekers around the world.
For his part, Director General of Al-Quds Foundation – Syria, Dr. Khalaf Al-Muftah, indicated that the International Al-Quds Day is an occasion to strengthen Arab and Islamic solidarity and raise awareness of the public opinion about the Palestinian cause and the legitimate resistance of the Palestinian people against the occupation and about the extent of the suffering they are exposed to.
In turn, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front Khaled Abdul Majeed pointed out that marking International Al-Quds Day through holding a number of activities has many indications, the most prominent of which is the emphasis on the Arab and Islamic holy city’s identity, history and sacred human heritage. Celebrating this day also stresses the nation’s support for and solidarity with the Palestinian people and its rejection of the occupation and it reiterates that Al-Quds is the eternal capital of Palestine, Abdul Majeed said.
Head of the Syrian Arab People’s Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People and Resisting the Zionist Project, Dr. Saber Falhout, noted the importance of reviving this occasion so that the Palestinian cause remains present in the conscience of the people of the Arab and Islamic nations and the free people of the world to confront the attempts of the Zionist occupation authorities to obliterate the identity of the city of Al-Quds.
