Kanaani: Iranian delegation in Riyadh to implement Saudi-Iranian agreement on the resumption of official relations

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Wednesday announced the arrival of an Iranian technical delegation in Riyadh today in a new step within the framework of  implementing the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia to resume official relations and diplomatic activity of political and consular missions of the two countries.

In a statement reported by Tasnim News Agency today, Kanaani said “the Iranian delegation will take the necessary measures within the framework of two working groups in Riyadh and Jeddah to inaugurate the Embassy and Consulate General, as well as the activity of the Permanent mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

“Efforts will be made to reopen Iran’s missions before the pilgrimage season,” Kanaani added.

Kanaani also referred to the arrival of a Saudi technical delegation to Iran last Saturday to discuss the mechanisms for the reopening of the Saudi embassy in Tehran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, on the 6th of this month, signed a joint statement in Beijing to expand bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
