What is the content of the leaked Pentagon documents?

The recent leaks of the Pentagon documents confirm that Washington is an unreliable partner, as it spies both on allies and enemies, and prove what Russia has repeatedly warned of regarding the existence of an actual role for NATO in the Ukrainian crisis.

The United States views these leaks as one of the most serious breaches targeting its national security since the WikiLeaks leaks in 2013.

The more than 100 leaked documents include a number of files, including those related to the war in Ukraine, analyses from US intelligence agencies, and secret press briefings on Russia, China, the Middle East, and the military arena in the Indo-Pacific region.

A trove of leaked documents detailing plans for an attempted offensive by Ukrainian forces against Russia in spring, and it contains brief information about 12 Ukrainian brigades under formation, 9 of which have been trained and equipped by the United States and other NATO allies. The leaked material purports that it is expected that 6 of these 9 brigades will be ready by March 31, and the rest will be resdy by April 30.

One of the documents, marked “Top Secret”, revealed that a group of 100 special operations personnel of NATO members “the United States, France, Britain and Latvia” are already active on the ground in Ukraine.

Other documents described the state of the Ukrainian army, one of which is dated February 23 and marked “Confidential” details how the Ukrainian S-300 air defense systems will be depleted by May 2, according to their current rate of use.

Other documents presented classified information about Israel’s willingness to provide Ukraine with qualitative weapons, despite its claim that it is not a party to the war.

There are documents revealing the United States’ spying on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who announced that he was not surprised by this matter, describing it as expected, while great disappointment prevailed among Ukrainian officials after receiving this news.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “The leaks are interesting, and they are studied and analyzed very carefully, and they are widely circulated and discussed.”

The leaked documents revealed Washington’s spying on South Korean officials, as they include details of private discussions between senior Korean officials about US pressure on the Asian ally to help supply arms to Ukraine and Seoul’s policy not to do so.

The US Departments of Justice and Defense launched investigations into the leaking of the documents, while the Washington Post quoted US officials that some of these documents were forged, but most of them are original and are consistent with CIA reports circulating in the White House, the Pentagon and the State Department.

Analysts and experts questioned the authenticity of the leaked documents, considering it an American attempt to mislead, especially as it contained false information about the stationing of Russian forces.

The Chinese newspaper Global Times considered that the leaking of the documents may be a result of a political division within the United States and was carried out by forces seeking to review Washington’s current plan to support the Kiev system.

The newspaper indicated that there are old differences between the Democratic and Republican parties regarding the price that Washington must pay for its support for Kiev in its battle against Moscow.

The newspaper notated that many American politicians are losing confidence in the possibility of Moscow being completely defeated, so it is possible that they will want to use these leaks to destroy the current plan to support Ukraine.
