Sabbagh calls for reactivating Syrian-Chilean parliamentary relations

Speaker of tHe People’s Assembly (PA) Hammouda Sabbagh called for activating the Syrian-Chilean parliamentary relations in the interest of the two countries, stressing Syria’s openness in terms of its relations with other countries of the world while preserving its sovereignty and national principles.

During his meeting today with the Chargé d ‘affaires of the Embassy of Chile in Damascus, José Patricio Brickel, Sabbagh explained that the PA is currently working on the establishment of a Syrian-Chilean Friendship Committee as the one in Chile, and on activating the work of this committee so as to strengthen bilateral relations and contribute to greater cooperation in all areas.

Sabbagh explained the conspiracy hatched against Syria, the terrorist war and the economic blockade imposed on the Syrians  and the looting of Syria’s natural wealth by the United States of America and its allies. He said that this was aimed at undermining Syria’s sovereignty and its independent decision, but the Syrian people’s steadfastness and the heroism of the Syrian  army would lead to full victory under the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad.

Patricio Brickell stressed the importance of further cooperation between the two countries in all fields, including parliamentary, cultural, educational, health and commercial fields, indicating his country’s participation in the forthcoming Damascus International Fair and the revitalization of economic relations with Syria in terms of trade exchange through the formation of committees for this purpose in both countries, building and strengthening trust between the parties in order to achieve the implementation of joint future projects that would be of economic benefit to the peoples of the two countries.

Patricio Brickell pointed out that his country’s government pays great attention to the Syrian people, especially after the earthquake disaster, as it will work to send experts in this field to Syria to provide assistance and support in facing the consequences of this disaster and to benefit from Chile’s experiences in dealing with it, especially as Chile is one of the world’s most earthquake-prone countries, noting the significant role played by the Syrian community in Chile at all levels and the progress and services it has made to the community there.
