Sabbagh meets with China’s ambassador in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Apr.4, (ST)- Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] Hammoudeh Sabbagh streesed on Tuesday that the bilateral relations between Syria and China are built on a solid foundation and have been developing in all areas, particularly in political and economic ones.

He also hailed China’s honorable position towards Syria and its people throughout the terrorist war been waged on it.

Sabbagh made his remarks during his meeting with Ambassador Shi Hongwei upon assuming his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Syria.

He hoped that the relations between the two friendly countries will witness more prosperity, highlighting China’s support and humanitarian assistance provided to the Syrian people.

For his part, the Chinese ambassador said that he will spare no effort to contribute to promoting the Syrian-Chinese ties at all levels, noting that Syria is one of the foremost countries that established close relations with China.

The ambassador affirmed the continuity of his county’s support to Syria’s sovereignty, independent decision in all international forums, adding that China vehemently opposes the foreign interference in Syria’s domestic affairs.

He called for lifting the sanctions and ending the embargo imposed on Syris.
The ambassador concluded by saying: “Syria is the guarantee of regional stability because it plays a critical role on the regional and international arenas.”
