Algeria Rejects All Forms of Foreign Intervention in Sahel and Sahara Region under the pretext of counterterrorism

The Chief of staff of the Algerian People’s National Army, Lieutenant General Said Chanegriha, reafirmed his country’s rejection of all the forms of foreign intervention in the Sahel and Sahara region under the pretext of combating terrorism.

The Algerian Press Service APS quoted Chanegriha as saying: “Algeria realized early the dangers of the terrorist phenomena, its background, and dimension, and warned the entire world of its destructive and disastrous consequences. Algeria has been able to defeat this dark project because of the rational exploitation of the capabilities and experiences of its people”.

Chanegriha stressed that Algeria will to give a new dynamism to the efforts to counter terrorism in the Sahel and Sahara region, pointing out that facts have proven that combating terrorism in a serious and effective manner requires continuous and coordinated efforts at the national, regional, and international levels.
