(ST)- The Minister of Industry, Kamal Eddine Toumah, has underlined the need to follow up and implement the national policy of science, technology and innovation for the industrial sector.
In a notebook was addressed to the Department of Scientific Affairs and Planning, the Minister urged to activate the process of scientific research in the industrial sector and follow up the implementation of the proposals in this regard in companies and institutions affiliated to the ministry through the creation of a Department of Scientific Affairs at each company or institution affiliated to the Technical Directorate and to be supplied with necessary technical cadres.
The Director of Scientific Affairs, Eng. Basman Muhanna, pointed out that the Directorate of Scientific Affairs identified in its proposals the functions of the Department of Scientific Affairs to supervise the implementation of the business related to scientific research, particularly in the development of production lines, solving technical problems, improving energy efficiency, developing of products, conducting studies and research to alleviate waste during the production process.
The functions of the department also includes raising periodical reports on scientific research, obstacles and proposals to the ministry to coordinate with the supreme body of scientific research and research bodies affiliated to the ministry including the lab centers and industrial research, the Specifications and Standards Association and to benefit from their expertise as well as supervising the implementation of the proposals of national policy for science, technology and innovation, supporting and motivating innovators in public entities.
