People in occupied Syrian Golan continue to protest against Israel’s plan to build wind turbines on their agricultural lands
Occupied Syrian Golan- People in the occupied Syrian Golan again have reaffirmed their rejection of the Israeli occupation’s plan to build wind turbines on their farmlands.
They assembled around 1000 of their cars in a long formation on Friday, in an event that was organized for the second week, and toured the occupied villages of Majdal Shams, Ein Qinieh, Mas’adeh and Baq’ata before returning to the starting point.
Participants in the event raised the Syrian flag and stressed that they will continue to confront the Israeli occupation attempts to build the turbines on about 4,000 dunums of their agricultural lands whatever the sacrifices will be.
One of the participants, Ramez Rabah, said that the event sends a message that citizens in the Syrian Golan will not allow the occupation to steal their land which they watered with their blood.
The Israeli turbine project is one of the most dangerous colonial, Judization schemes targeting Golan. The occupation has been trying to implement this project under the pretext of generating electricity from wind energy, while the real aim is to seize more than 6,000 dunums of land through building 46 wind turbines on three stages.
The first and second stages of the project have been implemented on an rea of 2000 dunums of the land of some villages, whose residents were displaced, including the villages of Oyoun Al-Hijl, Al-Mansoura, Al-Thaljiat and Tell Al-Faras, in a blatant violation of the UN resolutions, foremost of which is resolution No. 497 of 1981, which stresses that all the Israeli occupation’s measures in the occupied Syrian Golan are null and void.
The occupation was forced to stop the implementation of the third stage due to the strong rejection of the people in Golan and their repeated protests and strikes that aim at stopping this project.
