Syrian Ambassador to Belarus: The world must unite to resist Nazism

The Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Belarus Muhammad al-Omrani has participated in events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn massacre committed by Nazi German forces during the Second World War.
The Ambassador said in a statement to reporters: “The world must unite to resist Nazism, so that the Khatyn tragedy will never be repeated again”, calling this massacre a “terrible tragedy.”

Al-Omrani added: “We hope that such tragedies will not happen again, but 80 years after that tragedy we see history repeating itself. Unfortunately, Nazism reappears in some places, and we believe that all must unite to resist Nazism, and that these events should never be repeated “.
On the other hand, Al-Omrani described the relations between Syria and Belarus as historically, friendly and distinct in all areas, including economy and culture.

Both countries are resisting the pressures of foreign sanctions and attempts to interfere in their internal affairs, he clarified.

Khatyn is a Belarusian village 54 kilometers north-west of the capital Minsk, and was burned on 22 March 1943 by the Nazis.
