Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Muhammad Hassan Qatana and Chairman of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) Muhammad bin Obaid Al-Mazrouei on Monday discussed boosting agricultural relations, investment opportunities and cooperation in the next stage in a way that serves the agricultural sector in Syria as well as the Arab food security.
Minister Qatana affirmed that joint Arab cooperation can be integrated through investing resources and expertise to implement projects and provide necessary funding for these projects, and this is the role of Arab funds, explaining that investment in Syria is profitable.
Qatana stated that the aim of the meeting is to discuss renewing cooperation in order to invest in new projects in accordance with the new investment law and to benefit from the efficiency of the Syrian resources, pointing out that many new projects for agricultural investment have been put forward, which achieve high economic feasibility. Qatana reviewed the reality of the agricultural sector, the prospects for its development, the investment map and the proposed projects.
For his part, Al-Mazrouei stressed Syria’s role in promoting joint Arab cooperation, noting the importance of the agricultural sector in it due to its great diversity. He clarified that the Authority had previously implemented a number of projects, and is currently seeking to develop them and start new projects in a way that supports Arab food security.
Al-Mazrouei reviewed the reality of the Authority’s work, the contributions it provides, the implemented investment programs, and the number of beneficiaries.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands “ACSAD”, Dr. Nasr Al-Din Al-Obeid.
