“Peace Candles” Association celebrates women’s and Mother’s Days

“Shmoo Al-Salam” “Peace Candles held a collective art exhibition at the People’s Hall in Damascus on the occasion of Women’s and Mother’s Days.

 The exhibition displayed forty paintings for more than twenty artists from different governorates. The paintings reflected human topics for mothers and women inspired by reality in various artistic styles and techniques.

The plastic artist, Banan Al-Omari, participated with two paintings, the first embodied Queen Zenobia, who represents the strong and leading Syrian woman, and a second symbolized the mother through the bountiful land.

The orginizer and the head of “ShmouAl-Salam” Candles of Peace Association, Lina Rizk told Syria Times “mother is the symbol for endless giving .She is a teacher who raises her children. We celebrate her on this occasion and we want the woman to remain well and generous.”

“The importance of this group exhibition is that it provides an opportunity for young artists to display their paintings. The exhibition sheds light on the effective role of women in society,”Lina added.

“Each of the participating artists expressed his own vision on the subject,” She said.

 Participant Maysoon Sidawi displayed paintings tha celebrated womens day and shed light on the earthquake that struck Syria by drawing a sad eye where the whole world helped us.

She saw that the exhibition is an opportunity to show her paintings.

Maysoon al-Qadi participated with a painting that depicts  nature, which is a symbol  of women. For her this participation  is a good opportunity to acquaint people with her drawings.

On his part proffesional artist, Osama Hussein, who took part in several exhibitions inside and out Syria including Iraq and Greece, showed a large size painting.

He told Syria Times “most of my paintings depict the local heritage of Syria. This exhibition is for international women’s day and mother’s day .My painting in this exhibition is of a woman with her children.”

“I displayed a painting that expressed the depression of women because of the social pressures from which  she suffers from. The woman who stood beside the man, reaching higher levels of education and progress in all fields” Osama added.

Lina Al-Kilani, painted the suffering of the Syrian child. The child affected by the earthquake. It is a sad painting but it carries hope.

 It is worth  mentioning that Peace Candles Association was founded in 2017; the mission of the Association is to support and promote the artist’s work by creating opportunities for networking, collaboration, professional development, and advancement.
