On March 16th, the Russian Foreign Ministry said: “Delegations from the United States, Canada and the European Union are besieging African leaders and demanding that they stop cooperation with Moscow.”
According to RIA Novosti, the ambassador of the ministry’s special missions, Oleg Ozerov, added: “There are many examples of this kind of pressure, first of all they are besieging African leaders, authorities, parliaments and delegations that come almost daily from Washington and from other Anglo-Saxon countries from Canada and Britain, as well as from the Union European countries and demanding from them that they stop cooperation with Russia.”
Ozerov pointed to US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s statement that she discussed anti-Russian sanctions in all the countries she visited during her African tour.
